Staker and Parson Companies Celebrates National Truck Driver Appreciation W

Ogden, UT -- August 25,2003 -- Staker and Parson Companies is celebrating the eighth annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Aug. 24­30, 2003, with barbecue's and celebrations at 4 of its ready mix concrete plants in Utah. The company said it will be celebrating it's drivers and their safe and professional job performance.

"Our drivers are the safest and most professional drivers on the road. We continue to be recognized by associations and government agencies for our safety programs," said John Parson, CEO of Staker and Parson Companies.

In June the Associated General Contractors of Utah recognized the company with three safety awards including the Labor Commission Award, presented by the Utah Labor Commissioner. This prestigious award is based on safety performance for the past three years coupled with an evaluation of the aggressiveness of corporate safety programs. The top four Utah companies received recognition.

The Safety Excellence Award and 25% Below the National Average Award was issued to firms who beat the national average for Total Incident Rate (TIR) by 25%. In 2002, the national average TIR was 12.7.
