Statewide Roadeo Competition Honors Northern Utah's Best Ready Mix Truck Dr

Ogden, UT -- September 22,2003 -- Jack B Parson Companies (JBP) ready mix mixer drivers walked away with the three top honors at the First Annual Northern Utah Ready Mix Truck Roadeo. JBP's ready mix truck drivers placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Roadeo that was held on Saturday, September 20, 2003, at the Utah State Fairpark. The Ready Mix Concrete Council of the Utah Associated General Contractors Association sponsored the event.

Twenty drivers representing nearly all of Northern Utah's ready mix concrete suppliers participated in the event. Drivers participated in three different tests during the Roadeo: 1) written test, 2) pre-trip inspection, and 3) a driving test. The driving test included ten different skill tests designed to evaluate the driver's skill in maneuvering, backing, turning, and stopping the mixer. Concrete placement and chute handling skills were also tested during the event.

After hearing the results of the Roadeo, John W. Parson, CEO of Staker & Parson Companies (parent of Jack B. Parson Companies) said, "I am honored to employ such dedicated drivers. I salute Chuck, Jeff, and John and all of the other participants in the Roadeo."

"My grandfather started our business over fifty years ago. Since that time we've worked hard to build our business to be the company of choice for our customers and employees. We devote significant time and resources to help train and develop our employees. It's great to see that these efforts pay off."

After scoring all tests, the results of the Roadeo were announced. Chuck Rasband, Beck Street plant, was awarded a first place plaque and a $1,500 gift certificate. Jeff Trussell, Ogden plant, was awarded a second place plaque and a $1,000 gift certificate. John Carlisle, Smithfield plant, was awarded a third place plaque and a $500 gift certificate.

Last month JBP's parent company, Staker and Parson Companies, received three safety awards including the Labor Commission Award, presented by the Utah Labor Commissioner.
